Hi folks,
I was wondering if someone could be kind enough to explain me a little bit of details about Swyambhu Nath. A friend of mine was wearing a swyambhu Nath T-shirt and asked me what the eyes and nose signified. I told him I'd tell him later when I had time...but in reality I don't really know and Im too proud to say I don't know. I know its stupid but hate to say I don't know when it comes to my own Nepal.

I would highly appreciate a little bit of knowledge and wisdom. Thank you

this hiltop boudhhanath and its imposing eyes are meant to keep watchful eyes on kathmandu residents inhabiting the hill below so that they behave properly. that is what i was told in ktm during my schooldays.

others may have diffirent perspective on this...

I read that the eyes represents watchful god's eyes or if you put it philosophically represents consciousness.
